It seems every other modality of health care wants a slice of homeopathy. Bowen therapists, chiropractors, vets, doctors, naturopaths, reiki masters, reflexologists. One of the main reasons for this is because the potential good you can do for your health is much greater with homeopathic treatment than with perhaps any other modality.
The second reason is that you can learn to use some of the common medicines without years of training. Putting these two reasons together, and it’s no wonder everyone wants a slice of the action. And I love it when people empower themselves, learning to use homeopathy for themselves.
But for another health professional, to offer homeopathic treatment can be questionable. It’s undeniably wonderful that they are attracted to it. And their journey may well take them to practice homeopathy exclusively. But in the mean time, you may not be getting the best value for money.
I hear stories all the time, of what other practitioners are suggesting and frankly, I’m far from impressed. Often these therapists know no more than a home prescriber. Frequently, they are not qualified in homeopathy. Yet you, the patient, may decide on this imperfect experience whether homeopathy is any good.
There is a general feeling ‘out there’, that homeopathy is harmless. Whilst this is true up to a point, homeopathic treatment is very powerful. This means there is a potential for harm. This is normally only experienced by unknowledgable prescribers using high potencies frequently of an inappropriate medicine.
This is why only low potencies are available to the general public. You’re pretty safe using those, if you don’t know what you’re doing. And as a home prescriber, you’re taking full responsibility for your actions.
But these other therapists may have been on a short course where high potencies are discussed and advised.
Whist the harm any homeopathic medicine can do is nothing compared with the side effects of medical drugs, you still need to understand the power homeopathy has.
So be respectful, but not frightened, when learning to use homeopathy. And when you consult a homeopath, find one who only uses homeopathy, and who is properly qualified. A good homeopath doesn’t need any other modality, as we have such a far reaching modality at our disposal. Rarely will you find a homeopath who practices other modalities of health care. At least not for reasons of quality health care.
An unqualified therapist offering homeopathic treatment without full training, is also unequipped to help you when things don’t go according to plan. Even a qualified homeopath who doesn’t practice much can be unsure. This is the main reason qualified homeopaths have to accrue annual ‘experience’ or CPD points to remain in their professional association. Check this out before agreeing to treatment.
I offer Skype consultations worldwide for both people and animals.
