We’re back on the huge subject of allergies. An enormous number of people suffer from one allergy or another. It shows their immune system is badly compromised, and really you should see a homoeopath if you have any allergy, because of that.
While home prescribing is great, giving you autonomy, it’s not as deep as the remedies a homoeopath may prescribe you.
So this week’s remedy under discussion deals with allergies that are expressed in your eyes. By that, I don’t mean the expression in your eyes, I mean your physical eyes. Your eyes water a lot, you may blink a lot with the tears, and they itch and burn. So your eyes tend to become bloodshot.
Your nose may be affected as well, but normally to a lesser degree and the discharge is bland - ie, it doesn’t burn your skin.
So if you are allergic to something, especially hay fever, and your eyes are the main organ which is affected, think of the remedy Euphrasia.
The main symptoms are the profuse and watery discharge, mainly from your eyes, but can be from your nose. to a lesser degree.
You can use the remedy as an eye wash too. Just put a pillule in some water and bathe your eyes as normal.
Euphrasia also covers a cough which only occurs during the day. It improves a lot when you lie down. And the cough is usually very productive.
Symptoms are generally worse in the sunlight, wind or for warmth, although cold increases the discharge. They are better for lying down and being in the open air.
So any allergy, allergic asthma, hay asthma or a disease by any other name that is focussed on your eyes with profuse and watery discharge which burns (can feel like hot tears), Euphrasia will do a lot of good.
Euphrasia is the homeopathic remedy made from eyebright, which is a member of the scrofulariaceae family.
Its quite a small remedy (limited use), but a very valuable one.

Another measure you can take, if you’re an allergy sufferer, is 1 - 2 teaspoonfuls or raw, unfiltered, preferably certified organic honey every day. This has been known to help allergy sufferers across the board, whatever your symptoms.

We’ve looked at various reasons and natural treatments for high blood pressure and here’s yet another one. However, I would caution you not to purchase an over-the-counter niacin supplement.
