I know little about nuclear reactors. But I do know something about health. So here is my contribution to the current situation - how to survive nuclear radiation leaks.
I think it unlikely that the truth, in all its gory details, is coming out about the Fukushima nuclear leaks in Japan. However, as much of the world population is already in a panic mode, I can’t say I blame whoever it is who is restricting the truth. I like to know everything, but I take responsibility for my health. Not everyone does.
I believe this is not an acute problem. I believe this will get worse and it will be with us for a long time. So long term measures need to be in place.
There is a lot of talk about taking potassium iodide to protect your thyroid. I personally feel this is a total waste of money and effort. Why do I say this?
So what can you do? First and foremost, consider your overall health.
The same applies to your animals. Make sure they have species specific, natural, quality food. Make sure they have species specific, natural housing arrangements and as much freedom as is practical - such as horses have adequate grazing space, dogs are exercised daily, cats have access to the outside sun.
You can also safely give your animals a good quality algae. My cats, dogs and horses all get it and love it. You can also give them a good quality kelp, but this does contain a fair amount of salt, so free feeding this is more appropriate than putting it in their food. They will know what amount they need.
Your overall health will be the key to your surviving even the worst nuclear radiation leaks. Focus on that, rather than all the scary media coverage.

There is a lot of talk about taking potassium iodide to protect your thyroid. I personally feel this is a total waste of money and effort. Why do I say this?
- Protecting your thyroid, when your whole body is at risk, seems to be unbalanced thinking.
- Taking an isolated and synthetic supplement (which can and IS causing harm) can wreak havoc in your body. It is very easy to overdose on these ‘nutrients’.
So what can you do? First and foremost, consider your overall health.
- Are you still eating unhealthy food? This is one of the most important areas to get right. Eat plenty of plant based, whole foods, as much raw as you can. Limit or ditch altogether, animal protein. Stop eating all processed food. Have real food, not packet food.
- Take a supplement that has known de-toxing abilities, such as a good quality blue-green algae. I prefer to use the wildcrafted form from Lake Klamath in US. I feel this is healthier than that grown in the oceans which is often farmed.
- Limit your exposure to the sensationalist updates. By all means, keep yourself informed daily. But by immersing yourself in the fear that comes with sensationalist broadcasting, you are increasing your fear level. This means you lose your independent thinking, and are easy prey to anyone trying to sell you anything.
- Appropriate homeopathic treatment for any conditions that will arise out of this, however serious, offers you the best option. Homeopathy treats you. If you are already taking a homeopathic medicine that targets your well-being, then this offers you the best protection. Stay in contact with your prescriber for any required adjustments. If you do not currently enjoy homeopathic treatment, now is a good time to start.
- Ensure you take regular exercise, whatever you most enjoy doing.
- Make sure you relax often and make ‘you’ time. Learn to meditate if this attracts you. Being relaxed in any trying situation will always help you deal with it appropriately.
