Many women suffer badly from heavy periods, from bleeding in between periods or from constant bleeding. Often they are lead to believe that their only solution is a hysterectomy.
Of course, this isn’t the case. There are always other choices.
In homeopathy, there are hundreds of different medicines which can totally resolve this unenviable condition.
The medicine Ipecacuanha, or Ipecac, has many uses, but one of the keynotes for it, is a uterine haemorrhage which starts suddenly with bright red, uncoagulated blood, which comes in gushes.
So this can be a ‘normal’ period, a bleeding between periods, a constant period. Or even a threatened miscarriage.
Normally for this medicine to work, it needs to be accompanied by nausea. And not just any nausea. The nausea can be constant, incapacitating, and severe. And you get no relief from vomiting. This is unusual as most people at least get a short respite after vomiting.
You may also have a sensation that your stomach is hanging loose inside. A nice, quirky symptom.
Losing this amount of blood and having constant and severe nausea is likely to lead to fainting. Possibly dehydration and anaemia too.
Any excessive bleeding can respond well to this medicine, not just uterine bleeding. An ingestion of rat poison will cause internal bleeding. And nausea typically accompanies that.
Ipec has probably saved as many women from the knife as it has animals that have been poisoned.
Is there any other modality as diverse as homeopathy?
And we’re not done yet.
Migraine headaches that are accompanied by severe nausea and vomiting can be totally resolved by Ipecac. As long as the vomiting brings no relief.
Generally, those who do well on Ipecac have no thirst during the acute condition.
So far, Ipecac has shown to be pretty useful for bleeding and stomach conditions from a variety of causes. It’s also excellent for the resolution of asthmatic bronchitis and coughs. So it has a respiratory element, too.
Generally a lot of mucus can be brought up. The rattling cough shows there’s mucus there. And it’s not stubborn mucus.
So to recap, the strong keynotes of Ipecac are:
- constant nausea unrelieved by vomiting
- constant nausea which is incapacitating,
- sensation that your stomach is hanging loose with the nausea
- haemorrhages (especially uterine, but not exclusively) which gushes suddenly in bright red, uncoagulated blood, accompanied by nausea
- internal bleeding from ingesting rat poison
- migraine headaches with severe nausea and vomiting which is affords no relief
- asthmatic bronchitis especially in children
- rattling coughs which come on in humid weather
- a marked thirstlessness, in fact the mere thought of drinking promotes gagging
You can be forgiven for feeling a bit overwhelmed by the diversity and range this medicine has. But it’s a mighty useful one, and should be in everyone’s first aid kit.
